A cup of bandung, a bowl of ice kachang

Met up with Wang Qian and Ms Lam after school today at 5pm at tiong bahru plaza.
It was a cool meet up cause it has been 5 years since Qian left for London and I also had not seen Ms Lam my primary school teacher (pri 6) for around 2 years or so.
We proceeded to the food court to have some dessert, ice jelly w aloe vera for me..
(already had lunch + honeydew sago 2 hours before ><)

So we chatted and chatted about our childhood memories in keng seng pri and gan eng seng pri and tried recalling part of the hierarchy of the school: principals, teachers etc.
Hah, Qian and I still remember the exact sitting positions of our classmates in our column,
he used to sit behind me and fight with huiyi while I'll view on in front of him and make some sound effects. He sure has a really good memory! He even mentioned to me what we did on the 1st day of school in gesps when we had to clean the classroom before using cause the entire infrastructure was new. Sad though that most of the teachers whom I know have already retired or left teaching in gesps.
Only after Qian drank bandung did I realise how such 'insignificant' stuff is characteristic of Singapore. Though its a simple drink it somehow brings out the 'Singaporean flavour' haha if a GP tutor were to mark this sentence I would get a big fat EXP.
I always thought that primary school was one of the happiest phase of my life cause those days were really carefree and it was then also that I had forged some really strong friendships which lasts. Sigh, Qian's going back on friday, who knows when we will meet again.

You have made my days a mere handbreadth;
the span of my years is as nothing before you.
Each man's life is but a breath.

Pslams 39:5

Man is like a breath; his days are like a fleeting shadow.

busy?

Quote of the day from phls:
"If you're gonna say wait till I'm free or after this and that, then you will just have to wait till you say hello to your coffin, we're occupied/busy in every phase of our life fulfilling our duties. Stop procrastinating."

Learnt from the 1st chapter of haggai that the main problem of the Israelites had at that time was that they neglected the building of the temple of the Lord
AND YET they busied themselves with tending to their own houses and property.
"You expected much, but see, it turned out to be little. What you brought home, I blew away. Why?" declares the LORD Almighty. "Because of my house, which remains a ruin, while each of you is busy with his own house
Haggai 1:9

This was a direct contrast to the attitude of the Israelites when they starting building the temple of the Lord.
Despite their fear of the peoples around them, they built the altar on its foundation and sacrificed burnt offerings on it to the LORD, both the morning and evening sacrifices. Ezra 3:3

Must always remember this:
Then Haggai, the LORD's messenger, gave this message of the LORD to the people: "I am with you," declares the LORD. So the LORD stirred up the spirit of Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and the spirit of Joshua son of Jehozadak, the high priest, and the spirit of the whole remnant of the people. They came and began to work on the house of the LORD Almighty, their God, Haggai 1:13-14

The Lord is always with us, stop claiming it is not time to pursue spiritual things, it is not time to serve, it is not time to make God the centre of our lives.
When the Holy Spirit speaks to us and stirs our heart, do not put out the flame, keep the flame on the altar burning.
Stop putting off the need to overcome sin, to face our trials, to carry our daily cross instead of running away from it all.
Yes, I need faith in the Lord to move these mountains.

"I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world."
John 16:33

A brand new day

Been to church today, as usual had coffee session at the hawker before going for worship service, sermon then sunday sch. I thought phls conducted today's lesson in a n interesting manner by covering some of the main concepts of the old testament (OT) through quizzing us, haha.
Rushed for lunch then went about general cleaning, sure is tiring!
My back feels a little strained after all that scrubbing, just woke up from my nap..
Need to study a little before going for dinner than badminton tonight.

Love divine, all love excelling, joy of heaven to earth come down;
fix us in thy humble dwelling, all thy faithful mercies crown!
Jesus thou art all compassion, pure unbounded love thou art;
visit us with thy salvation, enter every trembling heart.

Till we cast our crowns before thee, lost in wonder, love and praise!

mocked.

Had mock prelim for econs and math, I had only one feeling after everything.
Mocked. aaaaarghh.
My studies are looking rather bleak recently, sigh.
At least there's still the weekends to rest :)

For, "Whoever would love life and see good days must keep his tongue from evil and his lips from deceitful speech. (1 Peter 3:10)

We all stumble in many ways. If anyone is never at fault in what he says, he is a perfect man, able to keep his whole body in check. (James 3:2)

Dealing with interpersonal relationships is indeed challenging, different personalities,
different values, perceptions, response. Much wisdom is needed!

100th post: safari rocks

I do not encounter the same problems on firefox or on IE (worst!) when i'm using safari, cool!
Not been feeling well since saturday, throughout the sermon, bible study and TYC after glow I was like half dead, trying to clear my nose and when I was sharing my voice sounded as if I was pinching my nose, weird voice haha.
Afterglow was kinda funny when zhuping and lois demonstrated the game: jonah and the vine
Big fish = jonah runs
Worms= 2 vines play scissors paper stone(SPS) and loser relocates.
so...zhuping and lois SPS-ed lois won and she was like...oooo!!! -runs off
Hilarious cause it was supposed to be zhuping who was supposed to relocate haha.
then we had this 'game' of we thank God for you being _______.
Phillane wrote on the piece of paper on my back and signed off with a poke -_- (pen poked through the paper and poked me)
NS checkup tomorrow...still a little unwell.
With flu, nothing much really gets into my head, argh :(

emo

Not a good start to a week, but nevertheless, every new day,
new trial or new experience is a new start :)
Was late for sch on monday and given a senseless lecture, I just deleted its contents cause it might be a rather sensitive issue. I must stress though that its contents are utterly senseless and lacking in intellect. Whole monday wasted cause I was locked in the conference room from 8am - 2pm sigh.
Reminded again that God is sensitive to his children sinning and He pays special attention to us,
er, in a sense its good!

A levels are drawing near, prelims around the corner..worried :(

He who belongs to God hears what God says.
The reason you do not hear is that you do not belong to God."

Grace greater than our sin

Somehow my blog allows me to access on sundays oO (ben having problems accessing it since months ago)

Today's sermon was quite 'high level' because it really demands an understanding of love specifically that between a couple. Stuff like when someone loves you he/she will have higher hopes/expectations of you is not easy to comprehend at my stage.
Main reminder though was that my heart should be a garden which is closed, my life and thus my heart ought to be dedicated to God and God alone.

Song of solomon 4:16
Awake, north wind,
and come, south wind!
Blow on my garden,
that its fragrance may spread abroad.
Let my lover come into his garden
and taste its choice fruits.

Another reminder was to really live a life bearing the fruit of the holy spirit that the fragrance of Christ in us may be diffused and lead people to Him.

Also had the privilege to bring 2 of my classmates to church for the gospel meeting today.
I was so sad when loon yuan said I wasn't his class mate :( well we were classmates last year and I always wanted it to remain that way but too bad I dropped econs to h1 so I'm in a different class now, sighh. The Lord has his own plans for me too though.

John 8:12
When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, "I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life."

Heaven bound
